This may seem like an odd way to simplify. You may look at this post and think, excess furniture, who has excess furniture? But as we’re going through and [very slowly] paring down things in our house, I’ve realized that even in a rather small house, you can have furniture that you don’t use or need.
If you’re not using a piece of furniture, why not pass it along to someone who will use it? It’ll open up your house. It’ll give you more space to move around. It’ll be one less thing to trip over, dust, clean, and move around to clean underneath. And it’ll likely feel big to get rid of it. Removing one couch (the one pictured here, which we Freecycled (see HERE) this past week) feels a lot bigger than a bunch of small things from inside of a cabinet simply because it has such a large visual impact.
Right now, our house feels full of furniture. We’re working on slowly helping our rooms in order to help them, and those of us who spend time in them, to feel lighter. Passing on the couch to someone else is one step in that process.
Great idea! We are doing the exact same thing at our house! It feels SO great to lighten and let go of the excess. I found you through your comment at Joshua Becker’s site. YOu have a lovely blog. 🙂 God bless you.
Thank you!
