I’m fortunate that my boys are good eaters. They eat pretty much everything we put in front of them without complaint. They eat a huge variety of foods, and have a broader pallet than many adults we know.
But they still get excited by fun or unusual foods. We made bread so that my 6-year-old could have his first sandwich. With later bread slices, he had the idea of making the bread into fun shapes. (We used the bread recipe HERE.)
So, he picked out a cookie cutter, and set to work. Because the bread we made is pretty dense, it cut and held its shape easily. He and his little brother both had fun eating chick-shaped slices of bread.
I, of course, ate the remnants.
For those of you looking to add a fun twist on a piece of bread or toast, cookie cutters or sandwich cutters work really well. It would probably also work with pancakes, or you could use a small cutter to cut shapes from slices of cheese, apples, and other fruits or vegetables.
