Taking Time to Smell the Flowers

Taking Time to Smell the Flowers

I’ve been making a conscious effort to enjoy the moments that life sets before me.  My boys, who find wonder in everything, are a great help in this process.

Instead of rushing along when my 2-year-old asked, “Mama, what do irises smell like?” we all stopped to find out.

How do you make a point of slowing down to enjoy the everyday?

Impossible to during the day since my kids started having scheduled activities and I made the commitment to do four hours of homeschooling. But I really try to read one chapter each night to them. No matter how tired I am. No matter how late it is. No matter what else I need to do. So I enjoy those sweet moments with them before bed without distraction and rush. As for myself, on my days off , I try to spend some time hunting for tiny insect to photograph. These are cherished times of quiet and wonder for me. Now if only I could find the time to not just smell the flowers but draw them too LOL.

    • Smelling and drawing sounds lovely. I know that time will come. In the meantime, I’m glad you’re finding sweet moments to enjoy. 🙂
