This week my 6-year-old is devouring Turkey Jerky by the pound. We typically keep some kind of jerky around the house because it’s super portable, easy to grab, and is a healthy snack that is high in protein. Sometimes it sits in our pantry in case we need it as an on the-the-go snack, and other times it disappears almost as fast as we can stock it.… Continue reading

Healthy Snack: Raw Goat Cheese
This week’s snack obsession in our house is raw goat cheese. It’s nutritious, delicious, and couldn’t be easier to prepare. Well, unless you’re making it yourself from scratch – we buy our cheese pre-made.
Raw Goat Cheese is high in protein and healthy, raw fats. It’s also good source of calcium, vitamin A, vitamin K, phosphorus, niacin, thiamin, and medium-chain fatty acids.… Continue reading
Healthy Snack: Apple with Peanut Butter
My 6-year-old was looking for a treat this afternoon. We had too much going on to tackle a big baking project, so I decided to pull out this old standby. It’s simple, nutritious, tastes great, is full of fiber, and it has a nice balance between fats and sugars. Best of all, both of my boys though it was a wonderful treat.… Continue reading

Last week, my 6-year old ate tons of celery and peanut butter (you can read about it HERE). This week’s snack of choice? Pumpkin seeds.
Pumpkin seeds are a great, healthy snack.… Continue reading
A Simple Snack: Celery with Peanut Butter
My two boys eat pretty much every two hours from the time they wake up until the time they go to bed. It’s not that they don’t eat at meals (well, most of the time). They do eat meals; my 6-year-old sometimes eats more than I do. It’s simply that they’re growing so much that they’re constantly hungry.
As a result, I’m always looking for simple, healthy snacks to keep on hand.… Continue reading
My Favorite Way to Make Kale Chips
I’m always on the search for healthy snacks that my family will be excited about eating. Kale chips definitely fit that bill. We used to roast kale chips in the oven, but after some experimentation, I discovered that we like them even better if I prepare them in our dehydrator. Using a dehydrator has the added benefit of completely drying out the chips, making them super crispy and allowing them to store well, without burning any of them, a balance I always found difficult to achieve in the oven.… Continue reading
