Springtime Snow

Springtime SnowSpringtime in Colorado comes with a wide variety of weather.  Earlier this week, we were enjoying the sunshine and my boys were outside playing with water balloons.

Today we woke up to snow that sat higher than my little guy’s waist.  We’ve had well over 2 feet fall at our house.  This next week, forecasters are calling for temperatures in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.  I’m predicting that the boys will be playing with water balloons again by Friday.

I love these spring storms.  They give us a last chance enjoy the snow, knowing that summer’s heat will soon be with us.  It reminds me to enjoy the hours spent snuggling under a blanket on the couch while we read through a stack of books.  It reminds me of the sense of relaxation that comes along with sipping a cup of hot tea while watching the white flakes drift down.

And while I love the warmth of summer, it also reminds me to enjoy the coziness of thick sweaters and snuggled-in feeling of our thick down comforter before such things are tucked away for a season.

Spring in the Colorado Rockies often feels like we get to experience all four seasons within the span of a few days (sometimes all in one day!).  And with each change, I’m reminded to be thankful: for what has been, for what is to come, and most of all, for what is now.

What do you love about Spring weather?  What are you thankful for today?
