“Many people believe simplicity implies doing without. On the contrary, True simplicity as a conscious life choice illuminates our lives from within. True simplicity is both buoyant and bountiful, able to liberate depressed spirits from the bondage and burden of extravagance and excess. True simplicity can elevate ordinary moments…from the mundane to the transcendent.”

It’s easy to get caught up in the messages of our broader society: to hear the call that says we need to update our house, to keep our wardrobe current, to drive a new car, or carry the latest electronic gadgets. We hear that it’s more important to make money than to spend time with our friends. We’re inundated with the message that it’s more important to have a spotless house than to play games with our children.
The message of simplicity tells us something different, and it’s a message we need to fully embrace if we want it to really take root in our lives.
Part of embracing simplicity and truly making it a central pillar of your life comes from realizing that Simplifying your Life is not just about stuff, it’s about a change in attitude.
It’s realizing that the small, everyday things are the things that compose the bulk of our lives. It’s realizing that what may be considered mundane can be beautiful if we look at it with a shifted perspective. It’s about finding and creating beauty in our daily lives instead of simply looking ahead to a distant week of vacation or an upcoming holiday to spark our joy.
Simplicity is letting gratitude for all we have fuel our decisions in and priorities for our futures. We learn what is essential for our happiness and let the rest simply fall away from the center of our focus and attention.
Please join me in embracing simplicity. Certainly it is a journey and my perspective shifts as I learn and grow, but I know that life is beautiful, and I want to immerse myself in that beauty instead of being too busy and distracted to see it. Let’s step back and enjoy together.
