When it’s cold and snowy outside, as it is today, I find myself desiring hot drinks. While I typically drink plain hot herbal tea, I sometimes mix it up with other things. Today, I wanted a Hot Spiced Chai.
The warming spices were perfect on a cold, blustery day, heating me up from the inside out. The richness of the cream made the drink feel like a special treat. And because I made it with herbal tea (feel free to substitute black tea, if it suits you), it didn’t leave me feeling jittery after drinking it.
Here’s how I made it:
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon loose Honeybush tea (or a couple of teabags of choice)
- 1 teaspoon Chai Spice Mix, or to taste
- Sweetener of choice, to taste
- 2 tablespoons of Cream, or to taste (coconut, cashew, or dairy cream all work well)
Instructions
- Place honeybush tea and Chai Spice Mix into your tea pot (you may need more or less, depending on the size of your pot).
- Fill it to the top with boiling water and allowed it to steep for 10-12 minutes.
- Strain, if desired. I leave my leaves and spices in my pot, so the next cup is stronger.
- Pour cream into a drinking cup.
- Add sweetener of choice.
- Pour hot tea over the top and mix until combined.
- Drink and enjoy.
