When we visited my grandmother over the summer, she gave me a jar of Apple Pie Spice she had received as a sample when placing a large spice order. She didn’t see herself using it, so she passed it along to me (along with a sample jar of cardamom, which she is now going to wish she kept because I’m going to post more recipes using it ::wink::).
I hadn’t used Apple Pie Spice before, but after taking a smell, I knew it would work well in all recipes that benefit from the spices we typically associate with fall: cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. Once I used up what was in the small sample jar, I decided to whip up a batch of Apple Pie Spice of my own.
Here’s my Homemade Apple Pie Spice Recipe:
Ingredients
- ¼ cup ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon ground allspice
- 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- ½ teaspoons ground cardamom
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions
- Combine all spices until thoroughly blended.
- Store in an airtight jar.
