We had the opportunity to get some more cream from our local dairy; in addition, we had friends coming over to visit. This combination seemed the perfect reason to make another batch of homemade ice cream (last time we made chocolate ice cream, see HERE).
This time, my 6-year-old requested that we make vanilla ice cream, but not the banana kind (I often use bananas to sweeten my ice cream.). Ever the vanilla lover myself, I quickly agreed, though next time I may try sweetening it with dates. Here is the simple recipe we used:
Homemade Maple Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe
1 quart cream, or full-fat coconut milk or cream
½ cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon ground vanilla beans (read more about them HERE)
¼ teaspoon salt
Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
Add to ice cream maker and process until the mixture reaches your desired consistency.
Serve and enjoy.
NOTE: I used raw cream for this recipe, which I get our cream from our local dairy. It’s consistency is more like table cream than heavy cream.
YUM! I like maple everything!!! People say it’s for the fall season, not me! Anytime. 🙂
We love maple too. It tastes great, and the fact that it’s healthier than cane sugar is a nice added bonus. 🙂
