The other day I got the craving for eggnog. I know, eggnog is typically considered a holiday treat, and right now in the heat of August, we’re a long time away from the winter holidays. That said, the characters in a book we read were drinking eggnog, and suddenly I couldn’t get the desire out of my head. There’s no way I am going to find commercially available eggnog at this time of year, and even if I could the stuff they sell in the market is typically extremely high in sugar. So, I decided to pull out my blender make my own.
This Homemade Eggnog provided all of us with a healthy, delicious, fruit-sweetened treat. We all loved it, even in July. And if you like eggnog, or even if you don’t like typical eggnog, I bet you will too.
Here’s how I made it:
Homemade Fruit-Sweetened Eggnog Recipe
2 cups milk (any type, dairy, coconut, almond, etc. will work)
3 date rolls
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Place all ingredients in a high-powdered blender and blend until smooth.
Serve and enjoy.
