With local peaches in season here in Colorado, we’ve been enjoying an abundance of them. While we’ve been eating most of them in their wonderful, pure fresh peach (see HERE) form, today I decided to give Fresh Peach Ice Cream a try.
I wanted the peaches to shine, so I only added two other ingredients to the mix. I was about to grab some ground cinnamon, when on a whim I decided to use the apple pie spice we had received as a gift instead. The one I had is mostly cinnamon, along with a bit of nutmeg, mace, and cloves. Then I added milk. That’s it.
It turned out wonderfully. The peaches were definitely the delicious focal point of this ice cream. The only thing that might have made it better was if we actually had some cream on hand, but we used the raw [whole] milk we had in our refrigerator and it was fantastic.
Here’s how I made it:
Fruit-Sweetened Fresh Peach Ice Cream
4 large fresh Peaches, pits removed
1 tablespoon Apple Pie Spice (see recipe HERE)
2 cups milk (any type will work — dairy, almond, or coconut — or use cream if you have it)
Puree all ingredients together until they are a homogenous mixture. I used my blender, though a food processor would also work.
Process mixture in an ice cream maker until it reaches your desired consistency.
Serve and enjoy.
NOTES: The peaches I used were very big, so please account for that when you’re making this recipe yourself (if your peaches are regular size, you may want to add 5 or 6). I left the peels on my peaches in order to maximize the nutritional value as well as fiber content; you can peel yours if you desire.
