Another warm day tells us that summer is definitely just around the corner. And when warm weather comes, a cold afternoon treat feels just about perfect. I had one request for Banana Ice Cream (recipe HERE) and one request for Chocolate Ice Cream (recipe HERE), so we decided to combine the two and make Banana Chocolate Ice Cream. It’s fruit sweetened, so there’s no added sugar, it tastes great, and it’s very simple to make.
Here’s how I made it:
Fruit-Sweetened Chocolate Banana Ice Cream Recipe
4 large bananas
3 cups milk (any milk/cream combo; coconut milk, coconut cream, almond milk)
1 teaspoon ground vanilla beans (you can read about them HERE)
6 tablespoons cacao powder
Mix all ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth.
Pour into an ice cream maker and process until frozen.
Serve and enjoy.
NOTE: The higher the fat content in your milk, or adding some cream, the creamier your ice cream will be. We love adding fresh, raw cream to our ice cream when we can get it. Coconut cream also enhances the flavor and texture, and also adds another flavor dimension if you choose to use it. For the batch in the picture, I used raw cows milk with no added cream.
