Fruit-Sweetened Chocolate Avocado Ice Cream

Jump to recipe

Fruit-Sweetened Chocolate Avocado Ice CreamWe had a warm afternoon, and my boys asked if we could make ice cream, since we haven’t made any in a couple of weeks now. Of course, I said yes.

We were at the bottom of our jar of milk, which – because it is raw and non-homogenized – is the leanest part (even though I shake it each time before pouring).   I decided our ice cream needed something a bit creamier to spruce it up, so I added in two avocados. I promise you can’t taste the avocados in the ice cream, but they really enhance the texture. They made for wonderfully creamy ice cream.

Here’s the recipe for how I made it:

Fruit-Sweetened Chocolate Avocado Ice Cream

4 Bananas
2 avocados
2 cups milk of choice (dairy, coconut, or almond all work well)
6-8 tablespoons Cacao powder, to taste
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon ground vanilla beans (you can read about them HERE)

Blend all ingredients together until smooth. I did this in my high-powered blender, but you could also use a food processor.

Pour ingredients into ice cream maker and process until it reaches your desired consistency.

Serve and enjoy.

Are you still making summer treats?  Or have you transitioned completely to the traditionally warmer treats of Fall?
