I love drinking a cup of hot tea, especially when it’s cold and dreary outside. And when I feel like I need some extra warming, I add a teaspoon of this spice blend to my teapot as I steep my tea. If you brew your tea by the cup instead of by the pot, simply add a smaller amount according to your taste (perhaps ¼ teaspoon?). I typically drink this with an herbal honeybush tea as the base, but it also tastes great with rooibos, black, and green teas.
I mix up and keep a jar of this spice blend on hand on my spice shelf. It’s not only great for tea, it also works well in a variety of other baking and seasoning situations.
Chai Spice Mix
5 teaspoons ground cardamom
1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground vanilla beans (you can read more about them HERE)
½ teaspoon ground allspice
½ teaspoon ground cloves
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Mix all ingredients until well combined. Store in a sealed container.
Enjoy!
I adore hot tea. Thank you so much for sharing!
Me too! Hot tea is so wonderful. I’d love to know what you think after you try the spice blend.
If I get a chance to make it, I’ll be sure to let you know!
