Simplify Saturday: Dresser Drawers

Today I’m tackling my dresser drawers. For almost seven years straight, I’ve been either pregnant or nursing or both. Needless to say, my drawers hold a huge array of sizes. I need to get rid of the stuff that’s the wrong size or that I don’t like or that’s worn out.

I’m not posting a picture. No one needs to see pictures of my old underwear.… Continue reading

Our Local Little Library

Our Local Little Library Our Local Little Library

Little Libraries are a fun and easy way to foster and build community. Well, it’s relatively simple once your community has a Little Library in place.

If your community doesn’t have one, you may be wondering what constitutes a Little Library. A Little Library is a place where community members can exchange books for free. It’s generally a cabinet of some kind that is set up outside, often in a park, on a street corner, in a parking lot, or even in someone’s front yard.… Continue reading

A Little Apology

I heard from one of you that my Simplify Saturday post accidentally went out twice. I’m sorry about that. I must have accidentally sent out my draft as I was transitioning the site.

I try really hard not to fill anyone’s inbox with extra stuff, so please know that it was quite unintentional if you somehow received the message twice.… Continue reading

I was Scared, but I Did It

Yesterday I finished migrating Everyday Mindful Living** from the old web host to the new one. It was a scary project for me to undertake, but I’m so glad that I did it. The actual process wasn’t nearly as difficult as the worrying, it was just extremely tedious.

Isn’t that true of so many things in life? I know I get frightened of things, and I’ll spend a lot of time and energy fretting over them.… Continue reading

Simplify Saturday: Digital Delegation

Part of simplifying your life can entail delegation. This typically involves asking or paying someone else to complete a particular task, thereby freeing you from doing it. That type of delegation works well.

Today, however, I am going to engage in some digital delegation. I am going to put every possible bill on auto-pay. Many (most?) of you may already do this, but for a long time I did not.… Continue reading

Taking a Walk Alone

Taking a Walk Alone

“Take a walk outside – it will serve you far more than pacing around in your mind.”
― Rasheed Ogunlaru

I love going for walks. Before I had kids, I would typically walk twice a day: once in the morning and once after dinner. Since my two beautiful boys have come into my life, I no longer walk nearly as frequently, but I still strive to walk as often as I can.… Continue reading

A Little Bit of Warning About My Coming Leap

What do you do when you encounter a task that feels very big and difficult, something that you’ve never done before but needs to be done? That’s what I’m facing at this moment.

Everyday Mindful Living** is less than a month old, but I realized that I signed up with the wrong web host for this site. I cannot implement some of the features that I envision having on this site if I keep it in its current web location.… Continue reading

Catching Nightmares in a Dreamcatcher

Catching Nightmares in a Dream CatcherLast week I took my 5-year-old to go and see a production of Fiddler on the Roof. He loves theater performances, especially musicals, and when there was a one-song preview during the last performance we watched, he begged me to take him. He’s listened to the soundtrack at least once a day for the last several months. He now knows all of the songs, and we discussed the plot extensively before attending.… Continue reading
