High quality store-bought face creams are very expensive. Not only are they costly, they often contain parabens, phalates, and whole host of other toxic ingredients. A couple of years ago, I stopped using a store-bought formula, for even though I was buying an alternative green product, it still had a few ingredients I wasn’t thrilled about. Instead I started using plain coconut oil on my face. I used this for a long time, until I decided to experiment with something new.
I had read that Frankincense Essential Oil can help reduce the appearance of scars, so I was putting a drop per day on a scar on my arm. After a couple of days, I felt how soft that particular part of my arm felt, and how nice the skin looked compared to the skin around it. On impulse, I decided to try adding a drop of Frankincense to the coconut oil I was putting on my face at night. Within a few days my skin looked brighter and more even toned. Given that my toddler still wakes up several times a night, this is pretty much a small miracle.
I then started to experiment with various combinations of essential oils in the oil I put on my face at night. I transitioned to jojoba oil as a base, as it made things easier to mix and its wonderfully nourishing for skin, and am now using the following recipe nightly (this recipe comes from the Essential Oil Desk Reference*).
Amazing Homemade Face Serum Recipe
1 ounce jojoba oil
12 drops Sandalwood essential oil (I get mine HERE)
8 drops Geranium essential oil (I get mine HERE)
6 drops Lavender essential oil (I get mine HERE)
4 drops Sacred Frankincense essential oil (I get mine HERE)
Blend together in a small bottle. Use a small amount each night on your face and neck (I use about 12 drops).
You can read more about how I use essential oils as well as order your own essential oils HERE. I’d be happy to help you.

How do you use Dr. Bronner’s Castille liquid soap? Can it just be used as regular body wash? Thanks
Yes. I dilute it (Dr. Bronner’s liquid Castile soaps are very concentrated) and use it as a body wash. It has simple, clean ingredients and it works well.
It works well for all sorts if other things too.
