Today my 6-year-old was sitting outside eating a fresh plum when all of a sudden he came into the house yelling that something was on him and his back was hurting. Sure enough, he had two insect bite marks on his back and one on his chest. Ouch!

So I made sure there was no longer any biting insects on him, pulled an ice pack out of our freezer, and had him lay down on the couch with the ice pack over the bites on his back while I went to close the door and grab a bottle of essential oil, Young Living’s Purification blend.

I should have taken a picture before I added the Purification, but I didn’t think about it at the time (I was too busy tending to my little guy); the area around the bites started to swell immediately. I placed a couple of drops into the palm of my hand, then dabbed the oil onto each of his bites.

Very quickly, the stinging and itching subsided, and soon the swelling started going down. By the time I thought to take a picture, the bite marks were gone and his skin looked completely normal. Yay for quick healing! Boo for forgetting to take a picture to show you how amazing and quick the healing was. Next time, I’ll try to remember to snap a shot or two.

Purification is a great essential oil blend to keep on hand. Not only is it fantastic as part of my Homemade All-Natural Insect Deterrent (recipe HERE) for helping to keep insects at bay, it also helps to relieve the sting after they bite (for those times, like sitting in our yard which is normally devoid of biting insects, when you wouldn’t think about applying insect deterrent). It also has a pleasant smell, which is a nice bonus in something that provides effective All-Natural Insect Bite and Sting Relief, and it’s great for lots of non-insect related uses (like acne, and bad smells, and so on).

I carry Purification with me in my travel pouch in my backpack for just such occasions. It’s a helpful oil blend to always have nearby.
