We make it a priority to at least spend some time outside every day. We all enjoy it, unless it’s super cold, then my boys still want to go out, but I’m usually longing to stay inside (you can read about it HERE).
However, once spring arrives we’re all ready to spend time outside in the sunshine and fresh air. Last week, we met some friends at the park. We all had so much fun that we decided to meet at the park again this week, this time with a picnic to share before the boys run off to play.
We put together a healthy picnic lunch to bring with us. This is how we filled our basket:
Roasted chicken legs (leftovers from dinner) with a BBQ sauce and mustard blend for dipping
Sauerkraut
Sliced raw vegetables: carrots, celery, cucumbers, and bell peppers
Homemade guacamole (find my recipe HERE), for dipping vegetables
Hard boiled eggs
Iced Tea (find my recipe HERE) and Water
After – and during – lunch, the boys ran and played. The simple act of taking food outdoors makes everything seem celebratory, more delicious, and more fun. Hopefully we can do it again next week.
